Xilingol League is located in the middle of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, bordering Mongolia in the north, with a border line of 1,103 kilometers. It is adjacent to Ulanqab in the west, Hebei Province in the south; to Chifeng City, Tongliao City and Xing'an League in the east. It is 460km away from Beijing in a straight line.

Xilingol League covers an area of 202,600 square kilometers, governing 2 cities, 9 banners, 1 county, 1 administrative area and 1 development zone. The 13 banners, counties, cities (districts) are respectively Xilinhot City, Erenhot City, Sunid Left Banner, Sunid Right Banner, Abag Banner, East Ujimqin Banner, West Ujimqin Banner, Bordered Yellow Banner, Plain and Bordered White Banner, Taipus Banner, Plain Blue Banner, Duolun County and Wulagai Administrative Area. One economic and technological development zone, namely Xilingol Economic and Technological Development Zone. Xilinhot is the seat of Xilingol League Government, and the political, economic and cultural center of Xilingol League. Erenhot is a land bridge from China to Mongolia, Russia and countries of Eastern Europe, and a city specifically designated in the economic plan of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Zhungadabuqi Port is an important land port that China opens all year round to Mongolia.
